Volunteer with TFDP
At The First Dollar Project, volunteers are at the heart of our work. You do not need financial experience or a background in coaching to make a real difference. What matters most is compassion, curiosity, and a willingness to walk alongside someone who is trying to get a better handle on their money. We provide all the training, tools, and support you need to feel prepared and confident.
This role is best suited for volunteers who feel confident that their own personal finances are stable and in order.
Our approach is simple. We meet people where they are, offer guidance without judgment, and celebrate progress, no matter how small.
As a TFDP volunteer, you will be part of a supportive community committed to increasing financial confidence and building real, human connection. You will receive structured onboarding, ongoing mentoring, and clear, accessible resources so you always know what is expected and where to turn for support.
There are many ways to get involved. Some volunteers coach clients one on one. Others help behind the scenes or support outreach efforts. Every role matters, and every volunteer helps someone take a meaningful step toward stability and freedom.
Volunteers typically commit 2 to 4 hours per month, and we work with your schedule. Some volunteers support one person at a time, while others choose to do more. Participation is flexible, and we will help you find the level of involvement that feels right for you.
